Welcome to my home! It has taken me so long to get pictures up because I was always waiting on something. Something to be painted, something to be fixed, a piece of furniture, a light to be changed, this or that--the list goes on. If you ever build a house you know what I mean. Things almost never go as planned and everything takes longer than they say. We ended up moving in our house in January, but the touch ups weren't done and we had to wait for the weather to warm up for the landscaping and exterior paint to be finished. Overall, I love my house and feel very blessed to have such a beautiful home that reflects my style and I have had so much fun putting everything together. Each month Drew gave me a "house budget" to spend on things we needed. After the needs were met I got to do the fun stuff--decor! I am always on the hunt for a good deal and almost everything was purchased on sale. I think I am finally at a point with my home where it feels finished.

These pictures were taken when my sister Kylie lived with us, so some things have changed already--like Gary the chameleon's cage and the extra computer desk in the office aren't there anymore. I change my mind a lot (poor husband) so I changed the dining light that was originally a warehouse pendant to a more industrial chandelier that matched the counter lights better. I also changed Van's bathroom lights to simple round bulbs from a light fixture that didn't fit the space correctly, and I still want to add another fan on the third floor and a fan in the living room downstairs. We replaced carpet in the pantry for checkered vinyl as well. I move pictures around and sometimes furniture until I think everything looks just right. Maybe I'll get around to making a video for an updated tour later.

Lastly, I have been asked for tips about building a house. If you're building a house first do your research on your builder and the quality of work he does, obviously something that is also within your budget. Do your research about the type of lighting for certain rooms and all the house items you need like refridgerators, washer and dryers, and those type of things. Since our house is tall and skinny, the third floor gets really hot in the summer even with central air conditioning so any chance for a fan is a good idea--especially where people sleep. There will be things you wish you had done differently because what you planned may not end up looking like what you had imagined, so be patient. Building a house takes time and once you're in your home it will be worth the wait!
