Pacific City Getaway

We were in need of a romantic getaway, so we booked a two night stay in an adorable beach cottage in Pacific City, Oregon. It was a weekday so we had the place all to ourselves. The beaches were practically empty, we could count the surfers on one hand, and the rain was dumping. Our entire family was even sick, which typically makes a vacation miserable, but this seemed like the perfect excuse to relax and rejuvenate.

We explored the town free of tourists, ate at a few recommended local restaurants, went for a coastal hike, and climbed to the top of the sand dunes to take in the gorgeous view. It was cold and windy, and Jimmy's cute ears flapped in the wind. Van's nose was runny and by the time he was blowing snot bubbles we figured it was a good time to go home.

After we put Van to bed, Drew and I stayed up late watching movies and playing games. Jimmy curled up by the fire and we felt truly content. The cottage we rented was small, but it was cozy. We had no cell phone service so there were no distractions of home or work--just us. By the time the trip was over we were sad to say goodbye to Pacific City, but we know there is always a next time.
