i love seeing the bond drew and van share. it's something special and unique to a mother's bond. it's playful, it's free, it's trusting, and most importantly it's unbreakable. whenever drew comes home from work van's face lights up and they begin to play and make monster noises at each other. drew tosses him on the bed and tickles him with his beard, and van begins to laugh so hard my mama heart can't decide whether to laugh or cry. it's the sweetest thing seeing them grow together. 

people say when babies are new the dad will often feel not needed or even left out. this can leave dad's feeling less connected to their child. it's true, in the beginning it's all about nurturing, but as they grow up the father's bond expands from just helping with diaper changes. the roles in parenting become more defined and baby knows when daddy comes home. van's first word was "dada", which i heard is common for babies, but i also like to think he looks up to his dad and all he does for him. i know i do.
