First of all, I just wanted to say thank you for all your kind words on my post yesterday. It helped so much to hear your voices in my little space of the Internet. It also brought some much needed clarity and is comforting to know I am not alone in my feelings. Thanks again for your thoughtful comments, I love you all.
This post is a little late considering our anniversary was on February 7th, but better late than never!
For our big five year anniversary our good friends babysat Van so we could go out to a nice dinner. Drew wrote me five love letters for each year of our marriage, and inserted them into five pink balloons. Throughout the day I got to pop them! It gave me something fun to look forward to and be giddy about. Then at dinner he pulled out another gift! This one was wrapped in Anthropologie packaging so I knew it would be good. I pulled out these gorgeous floral measuring cups and was so excited to have new dishes for the house. Then I read the card…
"Even though there is no way to measure my love for you, I thought I would try."
I really did score big with my husband. Him on the other hand, he just got a love note written on a Chik-Fil-A napkin. That's how unprepared I was! I had been in LA that week and just flew home that afternoon. When I sheepishly handed him the napkin across the table his face lit up. He read it and before stuffing it into his pocket he said, "This is the perfect anniversary gift. This is all I need."
That's true love right there.
oh my gosh. my heart just melted.
