Rash Epidemic

I don't mean to post about gross things, but some things in life are just gross. I don't think these pictures do the rash justice at all. You should have seen it the first day. It was like a bunch of hives all over my poor baby's body! His face and back were definitely the worse.

Within a week of Van's one year vaccines he got sick. He threw up for the first time ever and it was so sad. Then the next day he broke out into this lovely rash. The worse part was I was working a trade show so I couldn't be there for him during the day. Luckily, his grandparents were there to take great care of him. I didn't get any pictures until the second day with the rash and then by the third day it started to clear up again.

The following week Van got another rash! This time it looked different, more like red dots everywhere. The doctors said there was nothing I could do and he didn't seem to be bothered, so we carried on like normal even though he looked horrible.

I guess Van is like his mama. Prone to side effects and allergic reactions and my personal [least] favorite--rashes! I have a whole list of rash stories, but I won't bore you. Anyone experience this with your baby? What did you do?

  1. I don't have baby experience, but my Bobby (husband) got sick with bronchitis and then broke out into a fever that lasted quite some time. After his fever broke, he got this nasty rash all over his chest, neck and back. We called the doctor and they said it was a symptom that occasionally happens, and that it would go away. Not sure if Van's rash is associated with his sickness that he just had but it might be.

    1. ps i know a lot about rashes, even how to decipher. viral rashes as van had, go away on their own. viral rashes are typically red bumps that swell when warm but don't typically itch. allergic reactions can be treated with benadryl etc. and are most commonly itchy bumps like hives. bacterial or fungal weird things get scaly and itchy haha. i know, HATE Me yet? haha
