Push 5k
Last year my family each set a goal for 2012 to run a 5k and a 10k. You know how it is after the holidays--everybody gets on a sort of health kick. Well, I ended up getting pregnant and by the time the races came around I was much too large and on bed rest. So this year I set out to do my first 5k. I know it's nothing impressive. Three miles isn't a lot, but it was motivating each day to get outside and train for the race with my cutest ever little running partner--Van.
The Push 5k was the first stroller run in Boise. It was so fun seeing all the mamas, grandmas, and even family and friends running with their little ones. In the beginning of the race people were bumping into each other and I was practically walking, but the trail cleared up and I was able to run at my own pace. Boise is beautiful this time of year, and I loved running through the colorful leaves and crossing bridges along the green belt.
About half way through the race my sweet little mama showed up! She was there to support me and rallied alongside me and Van until the end. We crossed the finish line together and my family was cheering me on the whole time. Van was dressed as a cute little penguin and I tried to match him with my black and white running attire. In the end we had a great time and it felt good to reach my goal, even if it was a little late. Now about that 10k...
