Easter

Van's first Easter was a beautiful sunny day.
It was a "diaper only" kind of day.
We laid out the blanket in our back yard
with Van and his bunny, and Jimmy too.
I want to remember everything about this day.

The way Van's toes curl and his cute barrel chest.
How he squeezes his hands into tiny fists
and the scratches on his nose from when he can't resist.
I don't mind his goobery eyes and runny nose,
when there are perfect little lips waiting to be kissed.
Those soft precious ears that look just like daddy's
and especially that kung fu grip we can't get enough of.

Nothing beats a happy baby. Nothing.
