Resolution.

Time goes by so fast. Sometimes I wish I could slow it down and freeze it for just a little while. That's why I like to take pictures to document my life, but sometimes the camera just gets in the way. Sometimes it becomes a distraction, and sometimes it ruins the mood for everyone. It's stints like this that I don't blog as often and stuff piles up.

Then there's my iPhone. It's always on me somewhere. I can't seem to sit still without pulling out my phone at least once. I know it's not only me who is guilty of this. Do I really have that short of an attention span? Ick.

To resolve this constant battle of mine I want to try to be a little better this year. I created an "unplugged jar" for our home. The iPhones go in the jar when we are eating dinner, watching a movie, talking about each other's day, or on a date. I would like to also leave it in there over night. We have created a lame habit of going to bed with our iPhones and waking up to check Instagram. This time could be better spent talking, reading, or praying--or better yet, sleeping! No screens in the bedroom seems like a wise idea.

So here's to 2014 and making a special effort to not focus on crap that doesn't really matter. It's time I start looking up and monitoring my media use. I don't know how you all do it, but wish me luck!

  1. Ha! I'm trying to be more involved in social media bc aparently it makes you a bad friend not to like what every one else is posting all the time. You can do it. Once you see how freeing it is, it will be easy.

  2. I AM SO INLOVE WITH THIS POST, YES! I love insta and what not but I always try and put my phone down when I can, then I lost my phone a few weeks ago and I was in my absolute element. I have missed having the camera but it's been so relieving not having the time always or even the ability to just be able to photograph EVERYTHING.

  6. Love the jar idea! We started charging our phones in the living room and using an old school alarm clock in the bedroom. Makes a huge difference in pillow talk and morning wake up.
