since the holidays i sort of fell off the face of the earth. when things finally started slowing down (ex: sisters left) we got the approval to move into our new house! it's funny sharing these pictures now, but this is what the house looked like before we moved in. also, it is still not painted on the outside or landscaped because it has been too cold. i hope it warms up so strangers will stop walking in for a self-guided tour!

once the cabinets and countertops went in the house really started looking complete--until i discovered the countertops were the wrong color! drew didn't even notice, but right away i knew the quartz was a brown color instead of the gray we picked out. after weeks of corresponding with the builder and design innovations we finally were able to get it replaced for free since it was their mistake. now it looks beautiful! so many little things like that come up when you're building a house and it can be super stressful.

i have found some things i wish we would have done differently, but being first timers we just didn't think of certain things or notice them until we moved in. over time i think we can slowly tweak what isn't quite perfect in my mind, but until then we are enjoying our first home--especially the view! we closed on the house last week and it is now officially ours. complete hour tour coming soon!

  1. A lovely home. :) Congratulations!

Mark and I want to build our first home too. You should write a post about what you would change and what you are glad you did. I bet there are many of us who would love the tips. Always good to see the Fly girls doing well. <3

  4. It looks awesome! I can't wait to see it complete. I'm kind of living viacriously since I'm stuck in a shoebox apartment for the time being.
