since we have become a family everything has changed.

evenings spent at home don't seem as mundane as before,

with bright eyes and gummy smiles to entertain you.

we even find ourselves cheering for passing gas 

and laughing when another diaper leaks.

drew has mastered putting little van to bed,

while i get some quiet time to myself at night.

despite the lack of sleep and long hours; 

nothing beats the midnight milky smiles, deep body stretches,

and tired yawns of a newborn baby.

i can't help but mimic his motions and hold him just a little tighter.

i've never felt so content.
