drew let me paint the ceiling...

 cloudy day
 sunset
 starry night
sky mural

so my hub let me paint the ceiling on our bus! i am so excited! i knew i wanted to do a sky mural, but i am not an artist. i went for it anyway. i don't know how to blend paint very well, and with such a dry surface and hot weather the paint dried quickly. it ended up looking really fun and dreamy. i love it.

supplies you will need:
-acrylic or house paint (blue, white, red, yellow)
-1" and 3" brushes
-sponge (for clouds)
-water
-paper towels
-paint tray
-mixing stick
-something pointy (for stars)

since it is so hot this summer i painted the ceiling in sections during the evening. i got a small glimpse of what michelangelo did in the sistine chapel- what a challenge! our bus is named sunset, so it will be fun sleeping under the sky every night when we travel. i even painted little constellations in the starry night portion, but good luck finding them- i hardly remember!

next bus project on the list is staining the wood panels, re-doing the upholstery to a dark brown, and sewing brown plaid curtains! drew said it is just too girly in there now with all the colors, and i don't blame him. i plan on finishing it up this summer. it will be a sad day when sunset has to go into hibernation! so what do you think?

  4. Hey Megan! Don't know if you remember me...I was your visiting teacher in Lexington back in Rexburg. Love the mural! If you wanted to you could get white glow in the dark paint and paint a little over each star so that they will glow. We paints stars and galaxies on our bedroom ceiling. You could make a stellar dust cloud with a damp cloth. Just get a little paint on it and blot it on the ceiling. It turns out great! Congratulations on your little man! :D
