this weekend we got creative. it started out with my first pair of real diamond earrings form hub. drew managed to surprise me again! then saturday came around and we needed something fun to do. napping on a saturday is lame. so we got on craigslist.
that is when drew found tickets to roller derby. just like on the movie whip it. have you seen it? in real life the derby girls aren't as sexy as in the movie, but they can definitely beat me up.
it was the babebots verses the aliens! we cheered for the babebots because drew is scared of aliens. (don't tell him i told you that!) we even had a handy comic book looking manuel to teach us the rules since half the people in the audience probably didn't know what was going on either. there is basically a "star" skater from each team that has to get through the "blockers". whoever is the fastest wins points. and everybody gets to knock each other over too, it's almost as hilarious as their bad-a nick names.
unfortunately, the babebots lost. but we still went home feeling quite happy about our derby experience. if you're ever bored, look for it in your community. roller derby is for real.
