today we went to visit my grandparents. they have lived in this house their whole married life, and my grandma was 17 when they got married. i reminisced in the yard where me and my sisters used to play and even rummaged through a few closets and drawers. everything is left exactly how i remembered.
my brother found a pile of old spiral notebooks dating back to the 50s of grandma's budgeting, with a mortgage of only $75 a month. i sat sprawled on the floor doing puzzles like a little girl again, while grandma talked and talked about motherhood, her kids, grandkids, and great grandkids.
grandpa kept himself busy outside, trying to figure out the best way to fix his trailer for his new side by side. he is an 85 year old man, with still so much adventure in him. he may be quiet and hard of hearing, but just being around him in his cute little suspenders is enough for me. he even mentioned to us, "i've had a good life. i've made a lot of money and i've spent a lot of money." money spent on four wheelers and toys, that is. 450 to be exact- unless that was a rough estimate.
finally, grandpa was done reminiscing and ready to eat. he wanted panda express. as we headed out i could hear my grandma bouncing in that chair on her patio humming a happy song and swinging her cute little feet in the air. if i can be as content as my grandma and spirited as my grandpa when i am old, i will be one happy lady.
awwww! I love them. And that grass is amazing hahaha.
