handmade by my special jelly bean grandma.
when i was a little girl, we used to visit my great grandma also known as jelly bean grandma.
i remember sitting on her frail lap and touching her ear lobes long with age and kissing her soft soft cheeks.
me and my sissies would squeeze between her refrigerator and wall to eat sherbet ice-cream.
there was a dish of fake grapes in her entry way, right above the drawer of fig newtons, that i liked to steal and squish!
i remember her mirror display of antique glass figurines in the front room and vintage button framed mirror in the bedroom with the blue fan.
her home was sunny with something magical in the air that seemed to put me right to sleep.
i remember laying on the carpet and being eye level with this special duck.
a duck full of jelly beans.
i would squeeze the ducky until a jelly bean popped out of its side and i would eat them until my hearts content.
and that is what i remember most about jelly bean grandma, hence her nickname.
thank you me'me', for giving me her special jelly bean duck!
i added a cute little face and filled it with yummy gourmet jelly beans instead of the big yucky ones jelly bean grandma liked.
i feel honored to carry on the sweet memory in my home.
i love jellybean duck! jealous you got it - but also happy somebody in our trio has it :) so cute. love the face. so many good memories. i remember squeezing behind the refrigerator too, eating icecream. so many good memories. my hair would always get stuck in her glasses. remember the glass boot she had by the phone? so many good moments in our life.
ReplyDeleteThe jelly beans come out of the holes of the duck? That is both weird and cool. Cute post!
