Yesterday, Drew thought it was a wise idea to wash Sunshine (our bus) to get days worth of snow off the roof so we could put it in storage. I knew from the beginning this was not a good idea because Rexburg is freezing. But, I let him pursue his plan on one condition. If I was right, as in the bus turning into an ice cube, he owed me dinner. Needless to say I was right and we watched Sunshine turn into ice right before our eyes with a sheet of snow on top...still. So as we sat in Wingers I drank my hot chocolate with a grin while the doors on our bus froze shut.
Lesson learned.
Today, as we sit in our Volvo finally on our way to Utah for the break (yes, you can blog from your phone!), I also learned a valuable lesson. We were hungry so we stopped by Subway for dinner. If you know me, you know how I crave vinegar and crunchy banana peppers. Well, I let Drew decide what to get because he never cares and almost always let's me get what I want. But to my surprise he chose a turkey bacon melt. A turkey bacon melt? I was angry when he ordered because that's not what I had in mind. Anyway, I took my first bite unthankfully and to my surprise I loved it! Still got the flavors I craved and more! Then Drew said to me with a grin...
Sometimes in life we prepare ourselves for something and when we get something else we immediately condition ourselves to be disappointed. It's not until you accept what you're handed that you'll learn to enjoy it and even grow to love it.
Lesson learned.
Sorry about the van...glad you got a good meal. :) And that Drew is a wise man. Have a wonderful Christmas!!
