Hair has been the topic of the last week in my world, just ask Drew.
One day I saw this babe walk by with beautiful curly hair and I thought, "I wish my hair looked like that." Not very many people know how curly my hair is because I've experted hiding it with my straightener! I've always wanted to be happy with my natural hair and never have been. I'm so sick and tired of fighting the curl.
And then it dawned on me, chemically relaxing it! It's just the opposite of a perm. I don't know why I didn't think of it earlier. I have an awesome friend, Erin Skidmore, who did hair at Paul Mitchell school, so I asked her for advice. Within a week we had a date to try it with my hair. Erin spent a LONG time working with my crazy hair and started with the mildest relaxer since my hair is already damaged from dye and straightening.
It worked! It's still curly, but notice it's much different than before. The before picture is me all natural at the beach in Panama. It's pretty obvious why I don't just let it flow--puffy frizz ball! Now can you see the difference? It lays much flatter and feels so different! I hope it stays like this and doesn't do something crazy over night or after I wash it. It's still kind of damp, but I'm excited to share how it worked for my sissies and all other hopeless curly haired girls. It'll be nice to have more manageable hair and hopefully not spend so much time in the dang bathroom!

oh man it's amazing! i seriously want to do that now! i'm jealous. it is still fly curl, but with more control. ahhhh. just what a girl needs. control over hair :) jealous.
ReplyDeletenice. nice. I did a few relaxers back in the day while i was in school, they do take a LONG time. I'll bet you'll be able to blow it out straight just with a round brush and blow dryer! love it!
ReplyDeleteI love you guys curly hair. then again my hair is pretty straight :) It looks good megs!

ReplyDeleteI have always loved your girls' hair! But, it doesn't matter what others think if you aren't happy with yourself so good for you! I hope it treats you well! :)
