WE LOVE CHRISTMAS!
Christmas makes us HAPPY!
And we got our first Christmas tree! Thank you Mama and Papa Hollenback for the generous donations.
Drew and I were thinking about what Christmas traditions we want to do for our family... which will someday involve the cutest chillins in the world. But for now we have decided to keep the focus of Christmas on Christ. Instead of having our nativity scene sit somewhere looking nice and pretty we are putting Jesus in the Christmas tree, and Mary and Joseph "traveling" throughout our house representing their travels before reaching Bethlehem to give birth to baby Jesus. Right now Mary and Joseph are on our microwave! Every day we will move them closer to Jesus until Christmas. So this is our little count down tradition.
For KIK we volunteered in Idaho Falls and helped out Santa. He called me his little elf and asked me to sit on his lap. I hesitated at first, thinking either he thinks I'm like 12 or he's a perv. By the end of the night, we all got to sit on Santa's lap and get our picture with him, which we have to buy :( Oh well, he was funny and apparently women can sit on his lap until they're 95 but boys only can til they're 16!
This is a weird snowman a "special" girl made for the creative snowman contest. She made it out of all kitchen materials- towels, bags, carrot, duct tape.... She was upset she didn't win but was pretty stoked we got a picture with her creation!
We also handed out flyers about KIK to get the word out and are starting to organize a travel abroad program with KIK so it's pretty sweet! It will involve spanish lessons, soccer tournaments, visiting orphanages, cooking classes, and all sorts of fun stuff.

Finally we got to go skiing for the first time this season! Drew and I got student deals for a season pass so hopefully I won't be too busy with school and find time to go skiing every week. I know Drew will! Only one lift was open and the snow wasn't good but it was still fun to get out and ride!
We're counting down the days til school is out, two more weeks, then we're headed home to Caldwell for Christmas with the Flys and we're sooooo excited to see everyone, especially Spence and Ky!
Don't forget to remember the true meaning of Christmas, this season isn't meant for stressing about gifts and money. Be happy, serve and love others!
xoxo

ReplyDeleteLove the last little quote in your post. Did you get to watch the christmas devotional last night? Cutey Pres. Monson gave an a-ma-zing talk about keeping Christmas about Christ.
ReplyDelete"I hesitated at first, thinking either he thinks I'm like 12 or he's a perv." Hahahahaha that's freakin hilarious!
