mama heart

when you become a mama something inside of you changes. you get a mama heart. if you're already a mama you know what i'm talking about. if you're not, let me explain.the moment you become a mama your heart grows so much sometimes you think it might burst right out of your chest. you didn't know feeling so much love was even possible! your fears of holding newborns and dislike for babysitting slip away, and suddenly you become a more selfless and mature version of yourself who would literally do anything for your child.


eventually the mama routine begins to feel natural, and you find yourself cleaning spit up and wiping poop off your fingers without a second thought. something that really would have grossed you out before. then you watch tv and a commercial comes on. a commercial about baby tylenol that makes you cry, because you know you would do the same thing. it's in moments like these your mama heart begins to pound and you hold your little one just a little closer because you feel what any mother would feel.

having a mama heart isn't just for you. it isn't just for your baby. it's for all other mamas too. because when you become a mama, you become a part of something much larger than yourself. you join a group of women that have been around since the beginning of time, who have been through what you have, who understand how you feel, and who are there for you. we are all learning as we go, and most importantly we all know what it feels like to have a mama heart.
