then summer rolls around and the wave is ready to surf again. my husband goes at least every day, especially green wave mondays, and now that i have a 6 month old boy i have nothing holding me back. i had gotten comfortable thinking i wasn't going to try river surfing. it just looked too hard! well, i took the plunge.
drew taught me all he knows about river surfing, which goes something like this...
"just paddle and don't think!" as he pushes me into the whitewater.
"wait, what?" it all went so fast before i knew it i was floating down the river and i was certain i wasn't going to make it out. thanks a lot husband.
now i can say river surfing in comparison to real surfing is quite different. the water is constantly moving and you never get a break. fears of sharks lurking beneath turn into actual fears of drowning. i wasn't able to get up, but i got in the wave and felt the river water rushing beneath my surfboard. if i could sum it up in one word- intense.
I was talking to tanner a lil bit about river surfing! I wanna try!! Lookin good meg!
