Resolution.
2012 was an awesome year. We spent a better half of the year traveling the globe and embracing our young freedom. When I found out I was pregnant a part of me was scared spontaneous adventure would stop. Experienced parents often say it's impossible to travel with kids, how hard it is to get even the littlest things done, and how time for yourself seems to go out the window. I don't want to believe this is the way it has to be. I want to be different.
Since I've been laying around lately waiting for my sweet baby boy to make his appearance I've had a lot of time to reflect on the past and anticipate the future, leaving my present moments somewhat bleak. I often spend all day in my pajamas while the world around me keeps moving. Drew has been so amazing through it all, but I miss being active. Before I know it I will be learning how to juggle a completely new schedule and I might even miss this quiet time to myself.
This year I will become a mama. I can feel myself changing already. I want 2013 to be different. I know there is nowhere I could travel and no amount of money that could outweigh the joy of being a mother. This year, my baby is my adventure.

ReplyDeletethis is the sweetest post! I have always been nervous to be a mom, to be scared the adventures stop, but I think you are right on..your new adventure is your baby! (ps, my neighbors have 2 kids that are under 5 and take them out of the country every year! crazy huh? It gives me hope though :) Your the best megan! you are going to be the best mom ever!
ReplyDeleteBeautifulllll!!!! your sweet words and you sweet mama! you are already the sweetest mother. Becoming a mother is so evolving. And a continuous thing. Especially as your family grows. But having a baby just adds to the adventure. your cute family will still have amazing adventures just with the cutest lil boy in the pictures now ;)
ReplyDeletelove ya meg!
So exciting!!!
ReplyDeleteMy bro-in-law travels ALL the time with kids, it's not impossible!! :)
They went to Morocco with a 3 yr old and his pregnant wife... they give me hope that I can travel when I have kids too!!
You look beautiful and good luck with everything!!
Don't worry, you stop travelling if you think you can't handle it. It is possible to travel, you just have to plan well and be flexible.
ReplyDeleteWe just took our seven weeks baby to a small two nights trip, 3 hours from home. She did great. We won't let baby stop our adventure, we just need to adjust the kind of adventure we are having, and it is still so much fun!
This time you share the experience with baby.
All the best for you and your baby boy!!
meggie i LOVED this post. so sweet and mommy-like. and true. you will always be a fun adventurous girl, its in your blood. be patient sissy, he will come and you will be very active when he does hehe ;) i promise. LOVE YOU
ReplyDeleteps i like your green nails :) xoxo
ReplyDeleteYou have an incredible perspective Megan...loved this post! You inspire me with how you work hard (I've benefited from your work;) and you play hard. :) And even though your sweet baby is definitely going to change some things, you'll still be able to do both of those! :) And you'll find life just gets richer when you get to share it with your growing family. I haven't gone out of the country with my littles, but I have traveled to and from Washington quite a few times, and there have been tricky moments, but being able to share experiences with them and see things through their eyes is worth it and more! And you'll find that people around you are so kind and always willing to help a momma (especially as sweet as you).
ReplyDeleteCheers to the greatest adventure yet! Raising this little man with your other man, Drew. :) Hugs!! And prayers for the birth and his arrival! xo
This post is just beautiful :)
ReplyDeleteYour baby boy will definitely be your greatest adventure, but having kids doesn't make traveling stop. It will make it harder, but it's not impossible! Since Caiden was born we've vacationed in North Carolina, Barbados, Atlanta, and DisneyWorld in Florida, and have moved across the country (ID to CT, CT to ID, and finally ID to CT again). There are lots of little tricks and tips and if you plan on taking a trip let me know, I can fill you in on all the things I've learned along the way!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see that beautiful baby boy! So exciting that he'll be here tomorrow! Snuggle with Jimmy, go on a day adventure, take a nap, and go out with Drew for one last babyless date for a little while.

ReplyDeleteWhen I was in Thailand I met a couple with an infant son. They were from the UK and had not stopped travelling because they had a baby. I asked her about it and she said "it's all between the ears". They were really relaxed people who had a different view on life. Their son was the most chilled out baby I had ever met...i'm sure that was a reflection of his parents.
