baby honey dew

33-36 weeks / baby size: honeydew

alright dudes, this baby is getting big! at my last appointment the doctor laughed when he saw my belly. not only is my baby bump lopsided, but baby is measuring 4 weeks bigger than normal! i am wondering if this is because of drew's genes or because i have a special uterus. baby only has one way to grow with the little room he has, and that is out. i can eat meals off this thing!

baby boy is still breech so we are going to have to do a cesarian. whenever my body goes into labor we're going for it, and that time can be any day now. if things keep going normally we could make it through the new year to his due date, but it's not likely. i am starting to hit freaky mommy mode trying to get everything done. i have been so busy with my business and preparing for this baby, i only pray i can keep up with everything when he is actually here! i will have at least one month of down time after the surgery so things might get tricky. any experienced mamas out there that have gone through this?

i am hitting that point where i am ready for this baby to come out. my feet are swelling, my fingers are fat, i roll around and waddle like a penguin, and i can't put on my own shoes. pregnancy is getting pretty crazy and i am blown away by what a woman's body is capable of. miracle i tell you.

  1. Our bodies are amazing, aren't they? And your body is so little, it's no wonder that baby is having a hard time moving around in there! Sheesh. Best of luck when the time comes; if I'd had a c-section with either of the boys I'd give you some advice, but I haven't. :)

  3. I had a c-section. Just some tips. 1)During the actual surgery you feel tug and pull, but no pain. It is weird. While it takes only a few minutes to get baby out, it takes about 15 min to get sewed back up. 2)After surgery is tough because you are numb up to your arms and while you can hold baby, you can't really feed him yet. It was hard, but to see their face is still the sweetest moment! 3)Make small goals each day. Mine first one was to walk to the next day. Don't push yourself to hard, but goals always help. 4)Once you get home you are still on medication for pain, but you will experience pain when you bend over or lift your legs too high. If you have a high bed get a small stood. It makes life much easier. 5 and lastly) Sorry if TMI--Just be prepared that you won't poop for 5-7 days. Lots of women clog the toilet, so get a snake to unclog. Saved us big time. And don't sweat it---most of us clog the thrown!!!
Good luck!!! Babies are so fun.

  5. Megan you look fantastic!! That sweet bump in that stellar two-toned jacket...LOVE. :) And a honeydew, yay! He's measuring 4 weeks bigger, sounds like you have a sweet chunker, my favorite. ;) But I'm sure you'll still be surprised how tiny and precious he is...so excited for you to have him out and in your arms soon. I know every birth is different, but my friend just had her second c-section (this time is was scheduled) and she said it went so smoothly! She said getting a blessing from her husband before heading to the hospital calmed her nerves...and she's so grateful for knowledgable doctors who took care of her and her son. You're going to be in good hands Megan! I wish I had advice for balancing a baby and a business, you are incredible and I look up to you for it! I will say to relax and soak up his newborn everything (snuggles, smell, body covered in fuzz, the list goes on)...it goes by so fast. And to take him with you and Drew on dates while he's a tiny newborn that sleeps through everything (dinner and the movies can still be done with a newborn:). Sorry for the crazy long comment. Thinking of ya! :)

  7. Uhh You're always so stinking cute in pictures (and real life)! So jealous. As for the c-section, unlike one of the previous comments, I had full use of my arms so maybe it was just her c-section. The experience is different for everyone, but Drew will be there with you, and the nurses/doctors/anesthesiologist will be totally awesome, I'm sure. And when you're recovering and if you're having a hard time getting little guy to latch, DO ask your nurse for help. Thats what they're there for. It can be hard to nurse after c-section, but totally possible! I had a hard time with that. Love you! and if we see you tomorrow we can talk more 'bout it.

  9. I agree with an above commenter, getting your little guy to latch after a c-section and epidural may and most definitely be difficult. Don't give up. Throw your modesty out the window and let the nurses and lactation consultants help you. Most of them have been through similar laboring situations and they have tons of experience with belong first time mommies conquer the art of nursing. It's a wonderful experience. Painful and frustrating the first few weeks, but so amazingly gratifying and special. Good luck! You will do great! Prayers to you and yours!
