on christmas eve i went to the doctor for an ultrasound to check on my baby's position. he is still breech and beautiful as ever, it was so awesome seeing him for christmas! he even has cute little hairs on his head. later that day i got a call back from the doctor to come back in for some lab work. i have had severe swelling in my hands and feet, but i thought this was a normal pregnancy thing. turns out i have some signs of something called preeclampsia.
preeclampsia indicates protein in your urine because the kidney isn't filtering right and high blood pressure. the only cure for it is to deliver the baby. thankfully, i am far enough into my pregnancy the baby will be fine and my symptoms aren't severe. we are keeping an eye on everything, but as of thursday i was put on bed rest. the doctor is predicting we will do the surgery next week, which means i may have a new years baby!
