say hello to my 23 week bump. it's getting nice and round and my belly button truly looks like a button.
i recently started taking pregnancy yoga classes here in boise through st. luke's. my first day of class got me thinking about child birth. with each yoga pose the teacher talks about different birthing positions and breathing techniques. i'm not one who has a specific birth plan and i'm also not one who is very opinionated on the topic. i am open to whatever is best for my baby and my health. with this in mind, i don't see the point of stressing how the birth will go down.
although i am quite terrified. i am a major loser when it comes to pain. a huge part of me is all about the epidural and not feeling the worse pain in the world (thank you modern medicine). but there is another small part of me that admires people like my mother and grandmother who pushed their babies out all natural. maybe i can do that? but then again, i might have to get cut open and not even get the choice.
like any other mama, i just want a happy healthy baby. i also know unexpected things happen, so knowing my options sounds like a good birth plan to me. until then, i don't want to think about it. i know it'll be worth it when i get to hold my baby boy for the first time.

When the time comes sweet meggie, you'll know what to do :) xoxo
ReplyDeleteof course you want whats best for you and your baby but make sure you do your research, educate your self! make sure the doctors tell you the risk of everything so nothing unnecessary happens but its a good approach to go in with no birth plan because then you won't be disappointed. being super mellow about the situation, makes it that much better! If you like yoga you might like hypnobabies (can be used not just for natural childbirth but for relaxation)

i had really similar feelings! i should send u an fb message :) definitely good not to stress too much.
ReplyDeleteI'm all about going back to yoga when I get pregnant, I think it will be really good for me and (future)baby :)
ReplyDeleteI did yoga for 2 years and was impressed with the benefits of it, I mean better flexibility and breathing and increased muscle strenght. And to top if off, I learned to meditate and relax. Oh, so good!
So, enjoy your classes! You're such a cute pregnant lady :)
no plan is a good plan :) you'll do amazing no matter which route the birth takes. you're already a great mama
ReplyDeleteawe megs this is so sweet and true. you are the cutest yogee ever! and i feel the same exact way as you as far as delivery. we know you have to have c sections though so you will need an epidural. right? cause you cant push. i love you maggie i am so excited for you :)
ReplyDeleteI didn't have a solid plan either...left lots of room to see how things were going once I got there. You'll be great--just listen to your body (and your nurse ha ha) and I pray for a good experience for you!! It's truly amazing what our bodies can do, and there is nothing more precious than that first moment as a new mother. So sweet. I'm so excited for you!
ReplyDeleteWe don't know each other so you 100% do not have to listen to me. But I say do your best to be educated about all your options and be okay with whatever happens. No reason to feel guilt, what matters is you and baby boy are healthy. With that said I say watch "business to being Born" awesome documentary by Ricki Lake and read the book a husband coached birth! Weather you use drugs or not it is an amazing book! :) Again I would say be educated in all your options, stay calm, relax, and be prayerful and everything will go how it is suppose to. :) Also I have never had a baby, just doing my research, but seriously i have NO ground to stand on when giving advice in this area! :)
ReplyDeleteGoing into labor/delivery with no expectations is good, I think. Of course, I only have my 6 deliveries to base my opinions on. We have Drs. & nurses to guide us along. With all concerns and options addressed, as a team you make decisions based on what is happening at the time. Each situation is different and has to be treated as such. I had a ceasarian for my first experience, then had 5 vag. births. You are lucky with so many more options today...Megan, you will be writing your own story and soon will be holding your sweet new baby boy!
ReplyDeletei'd do yoga with you any day
