where there's a will there's a wave

there are a million reasons why i love my husband. but one major reason is his sense of adventure. he is "always down." maybe in his teens this wasn't his best quality, but now it certainly is one i admire. he has filled my life with spontaneity.

the other day we were visiting our grandparents and my 80-plus year old grandpa asked me what kind of life i'm living. i replied, "a fun one!" he doesn't seem to understand a lot of things i do or why i do them, like traveling and surfing. but that's ok. he is from a different time. i am from a time where i can work from home all thanks to the internet. i live in a time where my hub can skip work if he wants to because he owns his own business. our time is very different from my grandpa's time.

so one rainy day drew calls me from work and asks if i want to watch him surf. there is a new recreation park being built on the boise river for kayakers and surfers, and drew has become obsessed with it. he puts on his wetsuit from head to toe and jumps in the water to conquer the ever-changing manually operated wave. when he came out of the river dripping wet he told me how good it feels just to be in the water, how rejuvenating it is, and how much he loves it. i smiled. i am so thankful i have a husband who is happy no matter where we live. like i said, where there's a will there's a wave.
