bye bye volvo

this weekend was a very sad weekend. we found out our transmission needed to be replaced, and quite frankly this car has been a money pit. whenever it needed repairs they were expensive. when it ran smoothly we absolutely loved it. when it didn't we wished we were rich.

shortly before we got the news the tranny was bad we had just gotten the windows tented. don't they look amazing? shortly before that we just got a new battery. shortly before that we got new tires. shortly before that we got racks and a cool cargo box. shortly before that we replaced the abs module and sensor... you get the idea.

so when we got the $3,000 diagnosis drew was ready to push this car off a cliff. despite my concerns, i supported the decision and we sold it for a mere $2,000 within three hours of listing it. since then, i have been having doubts.

i didn't realize how much i loved this car. i drove it everywhere. i even pictured little babies in the back in cute car seats, and eventually able to sit on the cool little built in booster seats. it seemed like the perfect car for a growing family, and dog. it even had heated leather seats and secret compartments for hiding stuff!

i keep reminding myself that every car has problems. i wish you could always win in the car world, but i just think they all suck. now we need to find a new car to love. we are currently walking everywhere or driving our vw bus. we're thinking about getting a honda element next. any suggestions people?

  2. this just happened to us and our subaru! it needs a new engine and it just isn't worth it since it'll cost more to replace that than what we paid for the car. we absolutely loved it too, it kinda looked like your volvo! if only cars grew on trees eh?

  3. sad day i love volvos. i think the honda elements are sweet but stephen thinks they are ugly. they are perfect for travel! i would love to drive it and hondas are great cars. we are looking at getting new cars too. the car i want is the vw jettawagon tdi... or the new chevy traverse because they both get great gas mileage have room for the whole gang!

  6. I HAVE A HONDA ELEMENT!

    I'm obsessed with it.

But warning... the doors are annoying. In order to open the back doors, the passenger or driver needs to open their doors AND take off their seatbelt. So pulling over and letting someone out of the back can be quite the ordeal.

Also, it's only a 4 passenger, which is sometimes poopy.

SUPER SPACIOUS. And the seats fold up so easily into the sides. And you can hose it down as it's all waterproof. It's a good car! Honda's are great!!
