THE BUS

MEET SUNSHINE.

She real pretty.

The inside and engine! The back seat lays out into a bed.So we recently bought a 1979 VW bus. We call her Sunshine for obvious reasons. She definately needs a little lovin' and a paint job to make her feel pretty again, but she runs great! She has an awning that makes for a nice addition to camping. Not everybody was so pleased about our bread loaf shaped surprise, but we're excited to finally fulfill Drew's childhood dream of owning a bus. And trust me, this is only the beginning!

Last weekend we loaded the bus up with some friends and drove down to Zion to hike the Narrows. Sunshine may be old but she can handle the hills! The previous owner replaced the engine with a rebuild 2100 cc. That definately helped. It's fun driving down the freeway when people roll down their windows throwing us peace signs and thumbs up! Everybody loves a bus.

Making music around the campfire. Drew's friends brought all sorts of instruments: a didgeridoo, guitar, and drum. We roasted some weenies and ate lots of junk and then entertained ourselves late into the night playing the music game on Kimball's I-pod. Drew won of course. But shouldn't an owner of a VW bus know his classic rock? Yes, I think so.

You know you love that beard, haha. He's starting to really look like a wild man. But it suits the bus. Still, I can't wait til he shaves!

The hike was a lot of fun. The boys jumped off rocks and slid down rock slides, while the girls watched and laughed at how boys are so easily amused by climbing things and peeing on things.

Drew has so much energy! He doesn't even think before he jumps off huge rocks or pounds through the rocky river, he's so hilarious! Sometimes he makes me nervous though. I realised again how much I love him for who he is, someone who makes everybody laugh, and most importantly makes me feel like the most special person in the world.
Overall, we nailed hiking the narrows, stopping at various gas stations, sleeping in the bus, celebrating Tanner's birthday, hunting wabbits, and road tripping in a VW bus without it breaking down.

To all those doubters of our bus's guts,
WHAT NOW?!
