Drew the Poet

For those of you who don't know, in the beginning of our relationship things weren't easy. Here's a poem Drew wrote expressing his feelings I will never forget:

One face worn with far too many years of passion and poison.

Two blue eyes frightened by an eternity tainted with uncertainty.

The soul of a man yearns for that which cannot be attained.

Confusion rules his passionate heart and clouds his desolate mind.

Balance is only achieved for an overhunted treasure...

Happiness.

As time passes, he writes:

Two people have met in uncanny conditions.

An unexpected love develops. Despite faulty expectations.

Good times and bad times join to shape and reshape the mold that has been sculpted with time and care.

The same factors that wear and tear this bond return to mend and strengthen.

It is a love that cannot be lost or broken.

Reflecting a surreal experience he had in China:

The smell of young smoke travels to reunite with the traditional sound of serenity,

as the ancient ways are relived in the peace of modern civilization.

Something he wrote me while in China:

Thanks for loving me you really are a gem. A treasure that could have taken me years to find, but I was lucky and persistent in digging you up. I love you.

These poems are ones Drew has texted to me in desperate and unforgettable moments. I hope they don't embarrass him, but I want them to be remembered since my phone contract is up soon and I will lose them. Drew, I love you. You have a way with me.
